In 1909 construction of the largest passenger steam boat was started, this ship was named “Titanic.” The Titanic carried over 2,000 passengers plus the crew. Coming in at a cost $7,000,000 this steamship was one of three ‘Olympic Class’ liners made by White star line. Titanic was supposed to be an unsinkable ship that had luxury. The builders had claimed that this ship could have a very tragic incident and stay afloat for two to three days. It had a length of nearly 882 feet and height of 175 feet & weighed over 46,000 tons. The builders came to a conclusion that it would be enough time for help to come. Titanic was 9 decks and could go 21-23 knots fast. It took 907 people to work the whole ship. The first to die was Samuel J. Scott, a 15 year old catcher who had slipped off a ladder. The second man that died well constructing this giant ship was John Kelly, a 19 year old who was a heater boy and ended up falling from the slipway and went into shock after hitting the ground. William Clarke was a 27 year driller, which lost his life due to being smashed under falling wood even though he passed a day later from injuries. Due to wood beams collapsing onto him, James Dobbin, a shipwrighter lost his life. Deck A was Promenade which had passenger accommodations, such as the smoking room, a lounge, a café and more. Deck B was the Bridge deck which had a restaurant and smoking area plus rooms. Deck C was the Shelter Deck and has cabins and state rooms for 1st class. Deck D was the Saloon and was where cabins for the crew, second and third class were. Located on Deck E, The Upper deck was a saloon for first class, which had a pool for first class & Turkish bath. Deck F was the middle where the post office, Squash court and boiler rooms were. Besides those decks Titanic had an Orlop deck which had the boiler, engine & cargo rooms. Last was the Tank top deck containing only boiler & engine
