Greek myths, and their archetypes, are an important aspect in ancient and modern literature. These myths have had a great influence on ancient and modern literature. Each Greek myth follows an archetype that explains the type of story, the hero of the story, and the conflict that the hero has to face. These archetypes appear in every type of story, ancient or modern. Archetypes are one of the most fundamental part of a story.
In Greek mythology, the titan Prometheus helped the gods win a war against other titans. Prometheus was a caring titan who greatly helped the humans survive in the cruel world. Prometheus was a trickster, and he taught the humans how to get away with making unfair offerings to the gods, giving the humans better food than the gods. He also took fire from the gods to give to the humans as a gift. With fire, humans could live with ease. Zeus, however, greatly disliked what Prometheus had done. Danae’s father, who was the king of Argos, was told by the oracle of Delphi that his grandson would kill him. Although he locked up Danae in a hidden room, Zeus managed to appear to Danae in the form of golden rain. Afraid of his fate, the king of Argos sent his daughter and his grandson out to the open sea, where they landed on a new island. There, the king of that island sent Perseus off on a journey to keep him away from Danae. He was to kill Medusa and bring back her head. He succeeds in his journey with the help of Athena and Hermes, who gave him shoes with wings, an invisibility cap, a sword, and a mirrored shield. Perseus is the hero of the story, bringing back Medusa’s head victoriously. The myth is a symbol of “the task”, since Perseus is given a difficult task to accomplish.
