Working hard in something you love can create huge happiness in a life. It is a great asset to have and not only bring happiness but joy when seeing other enjoy watching one do what they love. Loving hard can both be a strength and a weakness. A strength because loving a person can bring a lot of happiness and joy to a person’s life. Although it can also blind a person from imperfections and can also make people believe that the love they receive whether it be healthy or unhealthy be the love that they deserve. Like in Tita’s case her love for Pedro is what ended up making her a mistress and killing her. Tita being submissive is also something i do not agree everyone should be. Everyone should be able to do what makes them happy and not feel miserable and like a slave. We both share similarities in this because I was born in California and have different views than a lot of the people I am currently surrounded by. Tituba also has a different sense in music and clothing. The same goes with me, because around here the popular music and clothing choice is not something I relate to. The novel Like Water for Chocolate written by Laura Esquivel is a love story like no other I have read. As soon as I started reading this novel the main characters Tita and her mother, Mama Elena jumped out at me because they share similarities and differences to my Mother Engracia and my grandmother Ignacia who also went by Nacha for short. Engracia like the protagonist in the novel, Tita suffered emotional and verbal abuse from her mother. However, Engracia was different from Tita because she never ran away from her problems, but instead decided to face them even when she was suffering from her mother’s abuse. Nacha and Mama Elena are both not only strict, but cold and emotionless towards their daughters.…
