A school district in Tipton, Missouri has shut its doors to Jesus Christ, prayers, and religious hymns after being reportedly bullied by a private atheist group.
The Tipton R-VI School District has decided to rid itself of anything connected with Christianity and even took down a photo of Jesus from its grade school library. The move comes after the Freedom From Religious Foundation (FFRF) sent a letter to the school board complaining about the practice of hymn singing during the annual high school awards program, Fox News details.
The publication notes that the students at the Tipton High School have always ended their awards program with a candlelight ceremony which involves the students forming a circle and singing the church hymn “Blest be the Tie that Binds.” According to FFRF’s letter to the school board, the practice is unconstitutional, especially because the hymn says the

Elliott raised concern over potentially hurt feelings of the non-Christians because they are “are outsiders, not full members of the political community.” Not only that, FFRF spoke out against the school board’s practice of praying during their meetings.
In response to the complaint, the school board gave in to FFRF’s demands. In a statement issued to Fox, Supt. Daniel Williams said they reviewed its practices to make sure that they comply with the law. They have also banned their practices which were viewed as a form of endorsement of religion.
Renowned evangelist Rev. Billy Graham has acknowledged the possibility that prayer will never make its way back to public schools. In a response to a reader’s question on his official website, the minister said the law can boot Jesus out of schools but no one can kick God out of Christians’ hearts, The Christian Post relays.
Rev. Graham also urged Christians to help their children strengthen their faith in God. He added that people still have to pray for their country even if Christian practices are banned in public

In Gene Johnson’s “High School Football Coach Who Refused to Stop Praying Placed on Paid Leave,” he tells the story of a football coach in Washington who has led prayers before and after the game with whoever wanted to join. Despite warnings from district officials to stop the public display of religion, he continued to pray. The district’s cause for placing Coach Kennedy on paid leave was that praying on the field violated, “federal and state constitutional rights” although Kennedy’s prayers were completely voluntary. Coach Kennedy’s firing is a perfect example of the problem of religion in sports. For the kids who volunteered to be a part of the prayers are now out on thanking the Lord with their teammates.…

Prayer in school is a highly talked about topic, and whether kids should be allowed to say prayer or if they should not allow any type of prayer all together. Allowing prayer in school or not has been a subject that is the most talked about, and controversial topic. This topic has a great role in the public school system because it can cause outbreaks among children, controversy between children, and children believing in other religions because of other kids. “This principle ensures that America's public schools are welcoming to all children and leaves decisions about religion where they belong, with the family” (Morgan Chilson, Pros and Cons of Prayer in School an Ongoing Debate). In 1955, the state of New York introduced a common prayer, commonly referred to as the ‘Regent’s Prayer’, for use in schools (Marshall, 1997). This precipitated the monumental court case of Engel v. Vitale in 1962 that would forever change the approach to religious observation in schools. Steve Engel was a Jew and a renowned civil rights advocate in the state of New York. He moved to court to oppose the compulsion of non-protestant children, chiefly his son to observe protestant traditions in government run schools. This, he argued was a violation of the civil liberties of the students as enshrined in the First Amendment.…
