In this course of my group project, I got my information from the web site, http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs15.htm and the source of this web site is United State Department of Labor. United State Department of Labor provided information that I needed in concerns of the application of the FLSA to tipped employees and how employees that customarily and regularly receive tips. I have got a lot of understanding under this web site about tip credit and pool credit during my research. I learned that employees are obligated in receiving tip credit like, waiters, waitresses, bellhops, counter personnel, busters, and service bartenders. Tip pooling has a valid arrangement that the employees ultimately receive tip from the employers and

Entertainment workers Bambi Boots and Randy Rogers filed a complaint against their employer High Class Entertainment under the Fair Labor Standards Act, “It is a federal law applicable to employees engaged in interstate commerce or employed by an enterprise engaged in interstate commerce; sets minimum wages and overtime and regulates youth employment (Employment Law p. 480).” Fair Labor Standards Act has two requirements in order to file a complaint under this law. One is the employer and employee must have some kind of work relationship. Secondly, employer’s activities must meet an “in commerce” requirement. Bambi Boots and Randy Rogers have met those requirements because Bambi Boots started working with High Class Entertainment from May 26,…

Waffle Now servers should have a higher payrate. The tipped minimum wage can not combat the inflation rates of today. If the tipped minimum wage has been the same since 1991, then that would mean it has been twenty-seven years since there has been an update in payment. Not to mention, that inflation has increased prices by 75% in these past twenty-four years. Waffle Now servers need a pay raise in order to have a livable wage.…

Case: Fast v. Applebee's Intern., Inc., 638 F. 3d 872- Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit 2011 Issue: 1) Whether a tipped employee should receive minimum wage for jobs that take up more than twenty percent of their day and are considered non-tipped duties; and 2) whether or not an employer can claim the tax credit if an employee does in fact work more than twenty percent of their sift doing non-tip producing thinks. The primary issue in the case was how to properly apply the “tip credit” to employees whom both sides agree are “tipped employees” but who perform both tipped and non-tipped (dual) jobs for the employer Fact: The employees, who worked as servers bartenders and other tip-earning jobs in the Applebee’s restaurant, under the guidance of…

In my point of view I believe that Waffle now servers should be paid the higher federal minimum wage for the non-tiped employees. My reason why is because their base pay is so low, they have to depend on tips has a major part of their income. However even with tips some many of them end up earning less than the federal non-tipped minimum wage. which means that that the workers who rely mainly on tips are more likely to need goverment assistance. I believe they should take away the tipped minimium wage because some workers really rely on their tips because the pay amount is very low.…

Essay Analysis Tipping has become a daily routine of most people living in America. The essay, “The Case Against Tipping,” by Michael Lewis expresses the idea that tipping is becoming too common and too overused in simple businesses like coffeeshops. Lewis is frustrated with how tipping is now everywhere, and people feel very obligated to tip for thought of being embarrassed or experiencing an awkward situation.…

I think the decision to leave a tip or not is up to a customer since he or she has to make a choice. All the time, when a customer is served at a restaurant, he expects a high-quality service, and when he is satisfied by the service offered he leave the tip. Maybe this is a right thing to do since you pay for a great service; however, there is another problem which must be considered. How a customer can be sure that the waiter will pay taxes for the income which comes from the tip. For instance, a person, who works for $ 10 per hour, pays taxes based on $ 1600 per month, but a waiter, who makes $ 4 per hour, pays taxes based on $ 640 per month.…

    Minimum Wage Benefits

I think that all employees should be paid the non-tip minimum wage, then be able to have their tip added on to their wage. I think this is the right way to go because there are taxes on their tips and wages, they will get tipped different amounts, everyone should get paid the same amounts, and tips should be a treat, not an expected finisher. Firstly, every employee is going to have a wage that already has been taxed, meaning it will be even less. Lets say they make seven dollars an hour.…

I am a server and I totally get why most waiters/waitress get mad when they don’t get tipped. Some people just don’t get the point of tipping their server. Some days are slow, and some days are extremely busy as a waiter or waitress. It is more than just taking someone’s order and bringing it to them. It never seems to fail that there will be that one group of people that doesn’t leave a tip no matter how hard the waitress works.…

From my experience working at minimum wage is very difficult. Its a strugle to pay for your food, bills, and most of all your children. Minimum wage is low as is, but you have some restarants who pay lower than minimum wage because of tips. I beleive that should be against the law. For most people it ends up less than what they would get paid if they were on minimum wage.…

The lessons the workshop taught the children that went through it was invaluable. We hope that we as adults show our children learn from us the mistakes of the past and treat people equally. A lot of times unfortunately people have stigmata’s either put on them by society because of how they look or they put them on themselves and people treat them differently. The lessons that this workshop teaches are lessons that everyone should have. You can spend our entire life trying to instill the values in your children that this class does in two days, and I want my children to be kind to people as we all do; I do not want them to ALIENATE someone because they are not the same as them, different ETHNITICIY or part of a MINORITY GROUP.…

As someone who makes his living on mostly tips it might sound obvious that I don’t want the tipping system banned, but there are a lot of people out there that think it should be. People argue that tipping is unreliable and unpredictable and that an hourly fixed rate would be better for servers. The truth is that tipping is not as unpredictable as people think and is actually much better for servers than a fixed hourly rate As a delivery driver, I have noticed a pretty big difference between the quality of my service and how much people tip. If I get there early people normally give me a better tip, and if I’m really late, I’ll get a smaller tip or no tip at all. The same thing happens with waiters and waitresses in restaurants, better service…

My grandfather didn’t believe in tipping people that work in the service industry. He believed that people got paid to do a job, therefore tipping was unnecessary. In theory his beliefs make sense, but after almost a year of working in a restaurant, I find this to be untrue. No matter how terrible the service, you should always tip at least ten percent. Your waiter or waitress lives on their tips.…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…
