Tina’s social emotional functioning was assessed using the BASC-2. The BASC-2 assess Tina’s internalizing (i.e., behaviors that manifest internally such as depression or anxiety) and externalizing (i.e., behaviors that are more readily observed by others) behaviors, and adaptive skills. Children rated in the typical range (T scores 40-60) are considered to be in the average range indicating that may sometimes display the behavior in question, but in a range that is similar to other children their area. Scales in the at-risk (T-scores 61-70) and clinical (T-scores 70-90+) range suggest that a child demonstrates significantly more of a behavior in comparison to other children their age. These indexes asses the possibility that Tina’s behavior was depicted in an inordinacy negative fashion or that inconsistent responses to items were given. Teacher and self-ratings and ratings completed by Ms. Powers and Ms. Bacon produced validity indexes in the acceptable range. Indicating that these responses are a valid measure of their impressions of Tina’s social emotional functioning. Mr. Bag produced an inconsistency index in the caution range. Indicating that inconsistent responding may have occurred.

Based on BASC-2 teacher scores, parent score, and self-report, Tina 's overall social and emotional status at this time is within the At-Risk to Clinically Significant range. Externalizing problems in particular aggression, appears to be a significant area of concern consistently across raters. Internalizing problems and adaptive skills also appear to be a significant concern.
Teacher 1: Reading Teacher
Overall, Ms. Randall rated Tina’s internalizing, externalizing, and adaptive behaviors to be in the average range. The only behavior that was slightly elevated was in the area of aggression. Ms. Laney rated Tina as sometimes arguing when denied her way, sometimes defying her teacher, and is easily annoyed by others, but does not view these behaviors as significant as this

Specific scales identified as at risk include: hyperactivity, conduct problems, anxiety, depression, somatization, atypicality, adaptability, social skills, and study skills. Ms. Laney ratings indicate that Tina often breaks rules, disobeys, lies, deceives others, and gets into trouble. Tina may also exhibit frequent symptoms of depression and anxiety (e.g. withdrawals, hopelessness, and sadness). According to Ms. Laney, Tina sometimes says “I hate myself,” seems lonely, appears sad, cries easily, and is easily upset. She often complains about being teased and is negative about things. She often appears to worry about what others think, and is nervous. Tina may also engage in behaviors which are considered atypical. Overall, based on the report completed by Ms. Laney, Tina’s social/emotional functioning is within the At-Risk range, although aggression was rated as clinically significant.
