Tina Fey Tina Fey is an actress, comedienne, writer and producer, probably known best for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock. Her well-rounded comedy style appeals to many people. Fey’s special style is one of the things that makes her considered to be one of the greatest comedians of all time. She was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and started comedy with an improv group called The Second City in Chicago. She went on to become a writer and performer on Saturday Night Live. Fey eventually became head writer, and moved on to a new series called 30 Rock. Since the show started, it received universal critical acclaim and earned her many awards, including 6 Emmys. After NBC rejected her request for a pilot, Fey changed the plot to be about a sketch comedy show instead. It was accepted, and she signed a contract in May of 2003. In 2006, the show premiered and was ordered 20 more episodes. Fey wrote, produced and starred as Liz Lemon, the title character who is the writer of the fictional show TGS with Tracy Jordan. The show is about Liz Lemon, dealing with her new boss, new star and everyone else on the crew. The show was received well at the beginning, with some critics noting the shows inconsistency. Tina Fey first starred in Mean Girls, a film she also wrote. The movies received positive reviews, with her screenplay receiving praise. The next notable role she had was in the film Baby Mama. She co-starred with her friend, Amy Poehler. Her performance was noted by critics, many pointing out she understood her character’s emotions well. Fey also starred in Date Night, Muppets Most Wanted, and Megamind, the latter being animated. She then starred in This is Where I Leave You, for which her performance was noted as a highlight of the film. She then co-starred alongside Amy Poehler in the movie Sisters. Fey was also a producer in this film. The movie received mixed reviews, but her chemistry with Poehler was praised. She received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 Critics Choice Awards. Her most recent film was Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, which she starred in and produced.
