Tim's Case Study

Tim’s progress this reporting period has had peaks and valleys. He has worked through the shame and guilt he first experienced when he began his treatment with this provider, and appears to have come to terms with his offending behaviors and that this is a part of his who he is, but it does not have to define him. This has manifested in his overall presence during individual treatment as well as the treatment group. He is alert, ready to discuss his challenges, how he uses what he has learned from treatment thus far in his everyday life, and the importance of maintaining an open dialogue with his significant social supports and not isolate. Conversely, Tim has had some challenges with lies of omission, keeping secrets, failing to complete treatment and schoolwork on time, and challenges with his school and treatment attendance. This reporting period, Tim missed two individual treatment session and two treatment group sessions. In all of these absences his mother contacted this provider to inform me that Tim was either having a panic attack, was ill, or had diabetes complications, which prevented him from attending treatment. These absence’s all occurred within the window of time that Tim and his then girlfriend ended their relationship, in Tim’s words, “She dumped me”. Tim, has a history of attempted self-mutilation and isolation, when he becomes emotionally dysregualted. In both individual and treatment group, Tim is able to use treatment language to describe his personal behaviors as well as identifying the behaviors of others. While it took several attempts and encouragement from the treatment group and this provider, Tim was able to complete his maintenance cycle and did a good job of presenting it to the treatment
