Both Mccandless and Treadwell were successful in being unsuccessful. With many obstacles, lessons learned, and opinions of others, both young men led a life of pure adventure. Timothy Dexter (April 29, 1957-October 3,2002) had a passion for film-making and aspired to be a movie director. After his aspirations being crushed by not getting the part he wanted, he resorted to alcoholism and heroin. Following a nearly-fatal drug overdose, Dexter decided being around bears was his calling. Graduating high school with all B's, and getting a full ride scholarship to college for swimming, Timothy began telling his peers that he was a British orphan who was born in Australia (neither of which were true) and began referring to himself as Timothy Treadwell. 1. Chris Mccandless told no one of his going to Alaska. Timothy Treadwell told not only his parents, but was encouraged by a close friend, and brought along Amie. 2. Treadwell was on a mission to not only escape civilization, but to protect the grizzly bears, and be able to go back and teach others of his knowledge some day. Chris/Alex's main goal was to leave all expectations and responsibilities behind. 3. Treadwell returned to civilation via air taxi after each summer concluded..Chris had no set plans of going back. 4. Treadwell went on to college, Mccandless chose to pass up the opportunities he had, and give his money to a hunger organization. Ending on the most obvious one, 5. Treadwell was mauled to death by a grizzly, and Mccandless died of
