Praise of an Angelic Teacher; Kathy Miller chooses not to rule the world
Before addressing the absolutely critical need for all students to pursue the love of Kathy Miller, it is important to realize the greatness that Mrs. Miller has achieved. In all of her years at Banjo High School she has perfected the junior SAT, and in her humbleness she would never lead you to believe that she was the cause of this massive jump in the SAT averages. She has also been a steady member of the Soccer Club for many years, never once convincing them that she had enough power to pressure them into making her child the starting goalie. No sir, Kathy has been faithful and has never once used tenure as an excuse to lazily teach or become enthralled in the power

They hear about the nudes being sent around, who the potheads are, what color Becky wore, what student plans on shooting up the school, who is cheating on who, and which student has the richest parents. Fortunately, the temptation these rumors bring do not affect the incredible English department head--Mrs. Kathy Miller. These rumors bring the power of a thousand Gods to the teachers who must quickly decide who is worthy to stay in the limelight and who must get thrown away as to avoid looking bad. In the case of Mrs. Kathy Miller image is not everything and education always comes first. Her perfect relationship with the second best insurance salesman warrants the envy of all other female teachers in the state. It is easily apparent that every aspect of her life is perfect simply because she focuses purely on her life and does not get entangled in the lives of others. You would think that with the access to this power one would assume she would become corrupt and rule the surrounding counties by dangling tainted high school secrets over all of the students she has ever had. In that case we would have to fear for the lives of our future Presidents, movie stars, and NFL players because lord knows that the greatest teacher of all time would only teach the best of the very …show more content…
Miller could never wield the power that comes with her job. Like the President she always has a big red button on her desk that could launch nuclear warfare onto each and every individual life within the school, but she doesn't. She is too kind to tell the world how she feels about students, but everybody knows that in order to stay at the very top of Mrs. Kathy Miller’s nice list you must shun the individuals who make her naughty list. This method of teaching should be rewarded because it gives students incentive to fall into line in order to have approval from their peers and every teacher in the state can learn from the incentivized peer pressure that gets Mrs. Miller high ACT scores, stellar AP scores, and the love of every faculty member from every school all across the state of Kentucky. With this great Bluegrass state ranking #47 in education and having terrible pension issues it is important to observe the greatest teacher in the state working her magic while simultaneously inducing the most efficient way of teaching. This seemingly perfect teaching technique that involves unbiased personalization is a simple targeting technique that revolves around the recognition that all students are worthy of teaching. Within the walls of the best classroom in the state Mrs. Kathy Miller teaches all students in the most relevant way. If these students want to learn and have access to the high education then Kathy will grade them harsher simply because they need the incentive

to try to work with “Mr. Johnathan Miller”, but he is a very hard person to work with. We have had numerous scheduled appointments in which majority of them were canceled by Mr. Miller or cut short because he had me meet him at the circuit courthouse in Elkton, MD on the days he had trials. He then would reschedule with me, “Promising we’d have more time to go over my case”, but again the same thing would occur, or “He would cancel and make an excuse why he could not show up for our meetings.” This has been a common theme when it comes to dealing with Mr. Miller. I have reached out to the public defender’s office on several occasions for help, but Mr. Henderson has refused to do anything in regards to Mr. Miller and has yet to even call me back after I have left him several messages.…

Let’s discus Mrs. Brown first. She is a “old-timer” teacher. She is a strong believer in being in a teacher oriented classroom and the students having respect towards her. She clearly stated to Pat Conroy on how he needed to keep order in class, which she said “you have to keep your foot on them all the time, step on them, step on them everyday and keep steppin’ on them when they gets out of line.” Just from this it is clear how serious Mrs. Brown is and that she is in control of her class.…

I thought the documentary “Waiting for Superman” was informative and also sad. Informative because we get a real idea about how schools are In the inner cities, and also how poor test scores are and how horribly we rank as a nation regarding school. Also, the method of “Tracking” which prior to this documentary I have never heard before, nor have I heard from the track being scores of obedience and appearance of neatness? What does that even mean? It also goes into how it’s nearly impossible to fire any teacher because of poor test scores from their students, which I think is really unfair.…

In the article, "A's for Everyone!" Alicia C. Shepard discussed her distress over the number of students that expected to be handed an A at the university she taught at. She claimed that it was becoming a normality for the majority of the class to receive A's; a B was no longer considered a good grade. The intended audience for this work of writing would be teachers, students, and parents. It can relate to teachers by the struggles they face, persuade students to not argue with their teachers about grades, and communicate to parents that sometimes their children are not deserving of higher grades.…

Many believe that the way to help girls become more interested in math and science is to “pinkify” them. They believe that girls are interested in fashion and boys and make-up and that is what program should relate math and science with, in order for girls to become interested in the topics. But what these people fail to take in account is that not all girls are interested in make-up or dating or even fashion. Girls have different interests and programs should take that into account when trying to help girls become more interested in math and science. Also, parents should encourage their children to take interest in the subjects.…

One day she came up with a bright idea and told her students, “You were chosen to be in my class because I am the best teacher and you are the best students.” Pierson, who came from a background of parents who were educators, knew how to inspire and inject enthusiasm, and, most importantly, try to build a relationship with her students. It was not easy; some of these kids were frequently absent and had negative attitudes, but it just took one action to make a reaction. If instead of cheating, Lewis had decided to use his capabilities to encourage his students to work on their grades, now he would be a hero instead of a cheater, and not only for his current students but also for the incoming generation as well.…

fails to pass a standardized test or regents exam. Further, it is not fair, for teachers to be criticized based on how well their students perform in their state exams. In addition, it is also not fair for principals to use test scores to judge teachers how effective and ineffective they are? Ever since, the nation has industrialized, we have forgotten how strenuous teaching is and often times, they are not always observed fairly and their accomplishments are also not always acknowledged. Teacher’s role often changes from teaching to counseling, because some students are in the poverty borderline, according to a Washington D.C post, by Lyndsey Layton.…

Geoffrey Chaucer’s, The Miller’s Tale, is perhaps the filthiest fablio known in English literature, yet many overlook the dirty allusions that The Reeve’s Tale portrays in response to the Miller’s story. Undoubtedly, both these stories are crammed with ill humor, however I believe that the Reeve does a better job at insulting the Miller. The Miller’s Tale may be more well known because of its comedic elements, but the witful Reeve annihilates and embarrasses the Miller.…

    Grade Retention History

    • 194 Words
    • 1 Pages

The practice of grade retention has been heavily debated in the history of the United States education system. Since the inception of formalized education, the notion of having a child repeat a grade when it is felt they have not mastered the concepts taught has been a primary method of remediation in our schools. Although this practice has been rampant in our nation’s education system (and concurrently practiced here in Belleville with consistency), its results on the retained children as well as on our society have been less than favorable. In 1875, the New Jersey Constitution guaranteed a Thorough and Efficient educational system. The theory behind this article lies behind the untried notion that the practice of grade retention in the state…

But as she was thinking she wondered what other kids went through that did not have quality teachers that went the extra mile for their students. While Barry was applauding the quality of teachers at her school Christina Fisanick implied that all teachers should be like Barry’s teachers. The quality of teachers is a big part of why some low-income students do better than others as Fisanick the editor of “Introduction to Has No Child Left Behind Been Good for Education? : At Issue”, says that every student needs a quality teacher in order to succeed in school.…

We all know that a first impression on others are key to success. Everyone wants their impression to be genuine (one that reflects their true self), but that isn’t always the case. Some first impressions don’t go as planned and trying to redeem yourself isn’t the easiest task to prove yourself. In fact, many schools, teachers, and students across Texas are losing their genuine first impression on others due to one main culprit, high stakes testing. What many don’t realize is that high stakes testing doesn’t only affect the teachers and the schools, but it affects the students even more.…

In the article, “Is Praise Undermining Student Motivation?”, John Orlando presents a criticism of one’s tendency to use praise as a tool to encourage students to improve. Orlando assesses that using praise distracts students as they become more preoccupied with achieving higher grades rather than actually learning. He further states that while praise focuses on the end product, positive feedback centers around the process, which is the most important step to getting to the end product. When students are praised for their intelligence they are less likely to seek challenges as praise has become part of their self-esteem. Statements such as these can easily be backed up with evidence, but it’s only addressing one issue.…
