Your parents drive you anywhere and everywhere without a thank you. The nice person who holds the door open for you every morning that receives a grumpy, mumbled "Thanks." Aeolus let these strangers stay for a long time! I understand that you think, "Oh it 's a big island, a few people wouldn 't bother him." But, no! He treated these men like kings! All of his best serpents catered to these sailors for a whole month! When they were finally getting ready to leave, Aeolus gave them, Ulysses, an amazing gift. He gave him the east, north, and south winds in a bag and the west wind to blow them home. When the sailors saw that, they got jealous. They opened the bag just as the got close to home. The winds blew from every direction sending them further into the ocean. After an extremely long time, they made it to land. But this wasn 't just any land, this was the island of Aeolus. They thought, "He sure will help us again since he did so not too long ago!" But, boy were they wrong! Aeolus turned them away! He gave them an amazing gift, how could they stupidly let it go? He thought, "This can 't go on forever, let 's go around it!" He and his crew set sail around the wall. Creak! Splash! Those noises started them. They turned to see the wall had opened and a fat demigod with a swirly beard and red face stood there. "Hooligans! On my island uninvited yet guests at the same time. Ulysses! I 've heard of you! Why are you here?" Ulysses explained how they were traveling back from the Trojan War. Aeolus was very intrigued. He ushered them into the island just to hear more. They rested their for a month treated like royalty. In exchange, they told stories about Troy. The battles, abductions, tricks, and duels. After all the stories, Ulysses asked for a favor. "Aeolus, I need your help. Help us get home." Aeolus ushered Ulysses away into private. He gave him a sack tied with a gold strip. "Don 't let this go. It has the East, North, and South winds. The West wind will push home." Ulysses thanked him. He gathered his crew and they were on their way with a final goodbye. The rest of the sailors were eyeing the sack. They were jealous that their captain got something and they did not. Ulysses saw this. He decided that he must not sleep until land so that they will not free the winds. After a couple of days, he finally caught sight of land. His eyes slowly closed shut. The sailors took their chance.
