Time Writing Experience

Improved Essays
There had been many instances throughout the school years where I had to write an essay in class and my experience with them were pretty bad. I would come in and out of the class stressed because I fear that I will get a bad grade. However, it has made me into a better writer in a way that I am able to conjure my thoughts together when I am limited in time. Thus, time writing has taught me how to prepare properly the night before the assignment and has kept my anxiety level low. With the multiple experiences that I have with times essays, I have come to realize that I learn something new every time and I have come to appreciate it more.
In preparation for the midterm, I overlooked homework #6 and revised any details that I felt like needed

Especially since, as I discovered not long after this experience, a timed essay is a part of the standardized tests I would need to take to get into college. Even though my first experience of writing a timed essay may not seem like the greatest, it was still beneficial. I was able to see that I needed to develop ideas quicker when writing, especially if I wanted to do well on the writing portion of a standardized test (on which I guess I did okay, but would have done much worse if I had not known what to expect). And although I am still not the greatest at timed writing, I hope to continue to improve my writing skills throughout my time at…

    Rough Draft Analysis

I really enjoyed some of the writing technique essays that we read in class. I usually spend several hours doing just my rough draft. For some reason, I had never considered just doing word throw up on my paper to help develop my ideas. The first draft shouldn’t be the final. My first draft was terrible, because I just wrote whatever came to my mind often not in complete sentences.…

For the narrative, I had no problem writing, since everything was my own words. However, for the third essay, the research paper, it took time to find anything relevant to my argument, and moreover, it took time to actually like my topic, since it wasn’t what I wanted to do. The research took a large portion of my time, but the actual writing wasn’t too complicated. Although the increase in minimum word count became overwhelming at times, the work time in class allowed me to manage my time well, not needing to work a lot outside of school. I never procrastinated, and didn’t have to rush the night before it was due.…

My English professor made me write a minimum of five pages for an essay and I never wrote over three pages since high school. This course was a challenge for me, but it also taught me the value to writing. The more papers I wrote in college made my views change on writing. Writing became a secondary voice for me, it wasn’t difficult for me to write about what I knew or either what was near and dear to my heart. Although I respect writing, it is still something that I still struggle with till this day.…

I hope I learn to write a great essay before the end of this writing course. I had been out of school for nearly forty two years and I believed I knew everything that I needed to know about writing. The first in class writing assignment showed me that I knew diddly-squat about writing, I never knew that there were so many different types of essay. The first essay I wrote was a bomb and opened my eyes to what is needed to write a really good essay. It helped when the teacher would group us into four or five and we would use the time for brainstorming or group discussion on different topic.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
