Time Traveler's Wife Analysis

Time Traveler’s Wife is a movie that is based on a book by the author Audrey Niffenegger. The genre of it is romance and science fiction. A romance is a work in which the plot centers around a love relationship. The definition of science fiction is fiction based on imagined future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets.
It’s romance because of the relationship between Henry and Claire. They fall in love with each other very soon and they eventually get married. Throughout the whole movie the plot revolves around their love life and their challenges as a couple. This movie is also considered a science fiction. It portrays science fiction because it has time travel and distortion of time all through the movie.
The movie starts out with Henry being a little kid in the car with his mom. They’re about to get into a wreck but before the truck hits them Henry disappears and he all of a sudden time travels to when he was younger. In the book when Henry and Clare first meet she gives him the diary where she recorded all of their meetings. Although in the movie Henry finds her diary in her room and he looks through it when upsets Clare. There’s a part in the book where Clare is sexually assaulted then burned with a cigarette that was not in the movie. In the book she also shows Henry the guy who did it to her and he beats him up. In the book when Henry meets his daughter they meet in an Art institute although in the movie they meet in a museum.
