Abderrahmane Sissako directed the film Timbuktu, which is a city in, west African state of Mali. The movie is related to the bias infringement of the relentless Jihadist. The invaders use fear, violence, and terrorism to suppress the harmless people living there. The mortified citizens of Timbuktu must comply with the new Sharia law enforced on them or else they will face severe consciences. The city once was a magical community, with diverse traditions and enriched with history but now is being distorted by radical Jihadist. The terrorist sought control through Islamic law but take it to an extreme level. They are using fundamentalism through the damaged government to abolish everything the civilians used to believe in. Manzanar Final Write Up: Contrary to most people, I did not enjoy the book “Farewell to Manzanar”. The story itself was only partly interesting and I personally am not a fan of non-fiction. Real life is almost never as interesting as someone else's imagination. In addition, reading a non-fiction war story only made me sad since it actually happened. Jeanne Wakatsuki (the author and narrator) was the character I connected to the most.…

From the beginning, Rudolfo Anaya sets up his novel, Bless Me Ultima, with an unconventional chronology. Unlike most children, milestones in Antonio’s age are quietly acknowledged, and the passage of time is merely in the background. But although a child’s growth is typically measured by the passage of time, the novel shows the growth of Antonio in a wholly different way; that is, Antonio grows as he gains knowledge about his own spirituality. More specifically, he discovers that the most central element of his development is comprehending, and accepting, the role that forgiveness and punishment should play in his relationship with God.…

Between the World and Me is a phenomenally written work of literature. A memoir of the life of black Ta’nashi Coates in the form of letter to his fifteen-year-old son. Readers follow him as he goes from a boy in the ghettos of Baltimore, to what he refers to as the Mecca that is Howard, to a man raising his son in a white America. Coates makes good points, but as I continued to read it seems that he contradicts these point. At first glance this book seems like a father’s attempt soothe his son’s uneasiness about his position as a young black man in America, during a time when many young black men are being killed.…

Angelika Kurnosenko The Stomach and Members This particular fable is really outstanding, because it has been interpreted in varying political contexts over the centuries. From my understanding of the plot I see that it concerns a dispute between the stomach and the hands and feet. Obviously, the stomach gets all of the food refusing to supply the rest of the body with the energy. Apparently, it is the reason of the conflict in which the other members of the body see sense when they realize that they are weakening themselves.…

A specific dystopian trait that ISIS fulfills is the devotion to a figurehead by citizens of the society. This is clearly portrayed through the Islamic State, specifically through the evidence that “all Muslims are ordered to swear allegiance to their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and migrate to territory under the state’s control” (“What Is ‘Islamic State’? – BBC News). This displays how the leaders of ISIS have influenced their followers, turning what may have seemed as a perfect utopia from the inside, to a corrupt, dystopian world when viewed from the outside. This change occurs as the flaws in ISIS are discovered.…
