By basing most of his books in Vietnam War, Tim O’ Brien who is an American author known by many for his expertise in analyzing his experiences in Vietnam. Despite the Vietnam War being one of the most looked down war in American history, the author has displayed a high degree of expertise in explaining the activities of the war. Many people hold a perspective that the defeat that American faced during the war played a vital role making the story of Vietnam get out of the minds of many people. There is no way a person can be courageous and still be a coward. Irrespective of O’ Brian giving an elaborative definition of courage, his actions of wanting to escape his country and move to Europe where he would not be subjected to a risky mission presents his cowardly trait (O’Brien, 56). Following the fact that O’Brien’s mission was a risky one and uncertain one, courage is vital since it will give him the driving force of handling the challenges that he might face in the quest of handling his mission. Without enough courage, a soldier can subject his or her partner in a session of suffering or render him straight to the enemies. With enough courage, however, a soldier can stand out for his fellow soldiers and save his or her life.
