Attention, attention read all about it, Tim O’Brien uses fiction or narrative in his writings. When you read a story, you are the narrator, how would you read the story. Would you see yourself in the story, being the main character, being on the front line like Tim O’Brien was. Imagine yourself carrying the things of past or deceased soldiers. You are in control, you have the power to make a story a fiction piece or a narrative one. I did, when reading, “The Things They Carried,” Tim O’Brien I focused on the narrator side of the story. I read the story like I was in his shoes, going to war for him as him. Tim O’Brien either uses fiction or narrative. Nobody truly knows what writing he uses, but we all know one thing he uses two. Tim O’Brien, describes his writings being either fiction or narrative. Before Tim O’Brien got drafted to the Vietnam war he was all round American boy. O 'Brien spent his tour of duty from 1969 to 1970 as a foot soldier with the 46th Infantry in Quang Ngai province.
