Tim O Brien Analysis

Many authors have their own way of getting to the message of the text for the readers. To get their message across, they put literature devices to use or use their own techniques and styles. Although, there are many authors that have their own unique techniques to get to a deeper truth or message for the reader, Robert Frost, Tim O’brien and William Carlos Williams also have their own ways and techniques of making sense of the imperfections of human nature and life in order to get their message across. Robert Frost makes sense of the imperfections of human nature and life in to get to the deeper universal truth or message for the reader by using imagery and devices of nature. In many of his poems, he uses nature as a metaphor. He also uses storytelling in order to get to his deeper universal truth of the story. O’brien uses as much physical and emotional descriptions in order to get the readers to connect with the characters and to help the readers understand the overall message of the story. For example, in the beginning, he explains some of the objects and things that the soldiers carry. He explains these objects as a physical description so that readers would be able to picture the characters (to make the characters more realistic to the readers.) Throughout the story, Tim O’brien tells many stories, he uses the stories he tells as a way for the reader to feel and picture what the soldiers went through and to actually see what war was like for them. He tells the stories with vivid imagery, which helps the readers to really see things from his point of view.
