In many of his films Burton uses mysterious or creepy music to set a dark mood. one example of where a longshot is used in one of burton’s movies is in the movie Edward Scisorhands. in the movie Peg got discouraged because there was no one in her neighborhood who wanted to buy her makeup products. so in desperation she drove up to the mansion on the mountain in order to see if anyone lived there. and when she enters the mansion there is a longshot. the longshot makes Peg seem small or helpless. so we are worried for her, because we are unsure if she will be okay.
Another thing that Burton uses in his films is, low key lighting. This low key lighting is used in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory to show things as dark, such as in Willy Wonka’s flashback about him finding the umpalumpas. Wonka talks about how terrible of a place it was where the umpalumpas lived, and the low key lighting helped show the darkness of the
