In Sleep Hollow, Burton was able to work with what he was comfortable again. In hopes of regaining the audience and critics reviews, burton returned to his more artistic and darker forms. The movie stared Jonny Depp, playing the role as a heroic Ichabod Crane, following the tale of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The film was a financial success at the box office and reviews rose again. Unlike other actors Tim Burton was able to rise to the top again. He followed up with his next film, Planet of the Apes. It was a remake of the old classic Planet of the Apes.
