Tilted Giraffes Can T Dance

There is a charming story tilted Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae. In the story, the giraffe is sad because he can't dance like all the other animals. That’s when the cricket shattered his perspective with this jaw dropping quote. He said, “‘ Excuse me’” said a cricket “‘ but sometimes when you’re different you just need a different song’” “‘ Listen to the grass and listen to the trees’” (Andreae). The cricket puts the message of the whole story into one simple sentence. He is telling the giraffe that just because all the other animals can dance to one song and he can not, it does not mean that he can’t dance. Every person is unique and each person needs to find what makes them dance so that they can shine like the giraffe did. Many people try to live their lives by following the standard route. They go through all their classes, go to college and get a degree, then work a 9-5 job until they retire. This life is not the life some people want to live, but they find themselves trapped in it. Someone might be middle aged with a beautiful family, but they are working a job they don’t like and they can’t leave because they need to provide for their kids. Others might want to be an actor, but society tells them that so few people have become one and it and it is extremely hard to make it, so they never even try. These people will follow the standard route that they don’t even like. They are dancing to the wrong music and will never get to show the world their true passions and shine like the giraffe did. These are traps many people fall into and we will never know if we lost the next Albert Einstein or Dr. Seuss to
