Tikki Tavi Theme Essay

Rikki Tikki Tavi is the story of a young mongoose who protects his adopted family from snakes in their garden.The theme of this story is that sometimes protecting the ones you love is more important than doing what’s right in the law and for you.This Theme presents itself in 3 different ways in the story.When Rikki Tikki endangered himselff trying to save the humans.When he killed the snake’s babies, and his actions all through the story or his thoughts. One way the Theme presents itself is when Rikki Tikki endangered himself for the family.When he fought Karat he could have died because Karat could have bit him and killed him.Jumping on Nag in the bathroom when he was trying to kill the man.If he had missed by a few inches he could’ve just broken his back and Nag would have time to bit him.Also when he followed Nagina underground.That’s a really dangerous place for mongooses because a wall could collapse and give the snake room to strike.But Rikki Tikki risked his life for the family and went down there and killed her.He was putting his family above himself. …show more content…
Now some people say that that was murder because he didn’t know what the babies would do when they were grown.But he had to be careful because a snake’s natural instinct is to kill for food.And there was a pretty good chance that they were going to grow up and endanger the family so he killed them.Now when you first look at it yes it seems like a cruel thing to doubt that’s a part of the theme.It might not have been right in the law but it was right for the family.And Rikki Tikki’s first priority is to protect his
