The short story “rikki-tikki-tavi” by rudyard kipling. Rikki-tikki-tavi is a curious and clever mongoose. Nagaina is sneaky and evil female cobra.The theme of the story is to overcome fear to protect your family .

First of all, rikki-tikki is clever and curious. For example,”he spent all that day roaming over the house.He nearly drowned himself in the bathtubs”(kipling 4). I think this shows that he is curious because he is roaming the house .Another thing is that he was so curious that he almost drowned. In addition “Now,if i kill him here nagaina will know;and if I fight him on the open floor , the odds our in his favour “(kipling 18) . This shows that rikkin is clever by planning his attack.
