What if you looked at the story from a different perspective, and found out the bad girl was not actually that bad? Recently, in my ELA class we read a fictional story, Rikki Tikki Tavi, written by Rudyard Kipling. In this story a mongoose named Rikki Tikki Tavi defends a family in Colonial India, from a family of snakes, Nag, Nagaina, and their eggs, living in the bungalow garden. The story describes Nagaina as the antagonist, based on the different lengths she goes to, to protect her family. She is pictured as the enemy because of her character traits, sly, vicious and devious, but in actuality she is just trying to protect her family and eggs.
