Theme is a big idea we take away form a story or a lesson. In the story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling, the theme is good versus evil. There is a lot of good versus evil in the story that is supported by the characters in the story. The protagonist is Rikki-tikki and the antagonist is Nag and Nagaina. Besides the theme good versus evil, some people might think that the theme is stand up for people that can't stand up for themselves.
Some of the ways that Rikki-tikki was protagonist because he was protecting the family when Nag was going to slaughter them. Some of the ways that show how brave he was “ It must be the head,”he said at last,“the head above the hood, and when I am once there ,I must not let go.” The big man had whispered to his wife that “Teddy’s safer with that little beast than if he had a bloodhound to watch him.” One of the ways that Rikki-tikki was curious was after the family found him. In the story they are selfish, threatening, and coldhearted and much more. Here are some of the things that show just said “he will have to go away and then the garden will be our own again.” Nagaina is the one who wanted the people to disappear the most so that her children will have more space when they hatch. Nag is the one who does all of Nagaina’s dirty work. What she wanted Nag to do first was “remember that the big man who killed karait is the first to bite.” Nag didn’t know that going into the house would get him murdered. They are coldhearted because they said “so long as the bungalow is empty we are king and queen of the garden.” They did all of this just because they wanted to rule the garden again. It got Nag killed and made Nagaina a lonely widow. It got all but one of their eggs killed. Why would someone go through all that trouble just to get nothing in return. It all seems pointless to me but that is just my
