Tiffany tea service:Teapot,Sugar Bowl,Milk Pot was designed by Edward C.Moore and made by Tiffany & Company during 1866-67.These three tea sets are made in silver with gilt decoration; ivory.At the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle,Tiffany’s display received the first-ever medal awarded to an Anmerican silver manufacturer.The design was inspired by the non-western art.The figure of the teapot looks like mosque style architecture, visible minarets that closely identified with mosques and the tea lid consists of a single dome on pendentives.The use of arches in tea service handles and the design between spout of teapot and teapot body credited with spreading Spanish Islamic architecture arch design that lead into an inner space.The surface …show more content…

The pot is white cream glazed ceramic high relief decoration of cherubs and floral-motif round.It was designed by four handles adorning the base and the blue glazed ceramics inside the pot.The cherubs around the pot direct the audience’s attention with detailed facial-expressions and the various figures.The different gestures and figures of cherubs also display the movement of the pot.However, the floral-motif on the pot does not have details and it look less technical virtuosity as well compare to the chrubs around the pot .While the four handles on the base are more just present the prettiness of the pot rather than the practical use. Gustave Joseph Cheret (1838-1894) is a french sculptor. He has a modest reputation in his style of works and they were sent to the Salon of French artists since 1863.Joseph Cheret is the author of numerous sculptures of small dimensions, group and statuettes, but also vases, planters that adorn characters, scenes and various patterns.His work is often described as displaying empty technical virtuosity tempered by prettiness.
