"One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do,"this quote by Henry Ford reconnects when it comes to facing something you're afraid of; our fears. When we get over fears, we realize only then that we had the courage before to do that something we were afraid of doing. One time I was afraid was when I started ice skating. Throughout my journey in Eng. 621 we have studied many different plays, short stories, essays, and novels. There were a lot of lessons in each piece that we looked over but the one that stuck out to me was the topic of “fear”. In the play of “Macbeth” written by no other than Shakespeare, the fear of getting caught really motivated Macbeth to continue down the wrong path and inevitably led him to his foreseeable death. In the documentary “The Armstrong Lie” Lance was so afraid to lose the Tour De France that he turned to drugs to enhance his performance which eventually ended his career in cycling forever.…

It's always fun to hear what people are afraid of (especially when it's something ridiculous), and since this week is Halloween, I thought this would be appropriate. Write about something that you were (or are) afraid of, a scary moment of your life, or anything else related to fears, especially irrational ones. You can be as serious or as silly as you want with this, but be honest. Make sure you respond substantially (not just "me too"--add to the conversation) to two classmates. Don't make fun of people too much!…
