Tibet lost its freedom:
• Tibet and China in the past
Tibet has always remained an autonomous nation and it shall forever. The Tibetan culture, tradition, customs, religion and language differs from Chinese, which indicates that Tibet and China are different. During the 600s the king of Yarlung, unified all the states and made Tibet an independent nation. The early Tibetan lifestyle was either nomadic or sedentary, which after a few decades coalesced. It was during the 630s when the Chinese Tang dynasty had a conflict with Tibet in the northeastern plateau. And it because of the how the Chinese government is oppressing Tibetans in Tibet, it is pivotal that there needs to be a quick conclusion made. Although, some Tibetans do not like the middle way approach because some want complete independence, but there is a big reason for why His Holiness has chosen this path. It is clear to us that His Holiness does not want to see his people suffer, and based upon that, His Holiness wants to preserve the Tibetan culture as well as keep the Tibetans safe. His Holiness states that, “If our history and especially our cultural distinctness are not understood, the need for a special solution, for genuine autonomy that satisfies the Tibetan people, will also not be understood…. I believe that we must focus talk with China on the future. We each have our own understanding and interpretations of history.” (Liard, pg.370-371) This statement of His Holiness claims that the Chinese government is not ready to understand the Tibetan history so how can it be ready to comprehend their needs of autonomy. The path of asking full autonomy is as if we are talking to wall, and no matter how loud we speak; it will not respond back to us. Likewise, the Chinese government is not willing to do anything that only benefits the Tibetans and gives loss to the Chinese. It is sad although Tibet belongs to Tibetans we have to negotiate with the Chinese to stay in our land. But if that can bring peace in Tibet and have the autonomy to preserve our culture together with practicing Buddhism then, that is better than all the oppression that Tibetans are facing and will be facing in the near future. Moreover, the Dalai Lama believes that the middle way approach can convey peace in both China and Tibet. His Holiness states, “If we can come to a settlement with China, that is good for both side, both peoples. I have clearly said this can be done within the
