Kolev, Kaloyan Writing Assignment One 9/8 The Sermon on the Mount 10/05/2015 Medieval European History The second most important teaching of The Sermon on the Mount is that God’s followers should not worry about food or clothing, because life is much more than that. Jesus assures the people that if they serve their Father, they will be able to “seek and find” everything they need to live a comfortable life (7:8).…
Though many believers will negate the important effect that their worldviews have on their lives, their worldviews function as a critical pivotal point by which they understand and relate with the rest of the world and by which they motivate themselves. Since humans unconsciously rely on past experience and knowledge to prompt their next move, a worldview provides a lens of understanding through which past perceptions reveal how to understand the present reality. However, many people like to bury their heads in the sand, so to speak, when it comes to acknowledging their worldview’s impact or changing a fault in their worldview. Unfortunately, these people are like someone who refuses to wear corrective lenses, and whose gaze is therefore obscured…
The spiritual component to the AA meetings is crucial for the recovery process. In a study conducted in 2013, it was found that groups that put more emphasis on spiritual development had a higher success rate in maintaining sobriety than groups where the emphasis was instead placed on behavioral development (Greenfield & Tonigan, 2013). The study gave researchers a better understanding of the reasons for the effectiveness of twelve steps of the Alcoholics Anonymous program. Spiritual development helps a person to surrender their will to a higher power and to rely on others for help and support. While behavioral training is important for a person to manage feelings and problems, spiritual training is necessary to truly change the will and heart away from alcohol and toward God, and thus is necessary for…
The Holy Bible is the only literature that continues to challenge me. The bible is made of two different texts, the first focuses primarily on the Hebrew Bible and is called the Old Testament, while the second New Testament, focuses on Jesus's many teachings and actions; both these texts are believed in the Christian faith, but it has been the New Testament that has challenged me the most lately. Faith, that's one of Jesus's many teachings, he says with faith as small as a mustard seed you could move mountains, but is that as easy as it sounds? To have faith that small seems like an easy feat, but for me it is the hardest challenge I could hope to overcome. The worst part of this challenge is that I don't want to believe my faith is so…

In other terms he appears to be unjustly accused.…
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 6:17 (NKJ). In the business world they say that the most important key to an esteemed business leader’s success is communication. It’s not leadership or your technological knowledge or even financial planning, its communication. Think about it … how do the best leaders motivate and inspire their people? It’s through clear communication.…
I’ve always thought it was neat how different numbers in the Bible meant different things. It seems that God is trying to reveal something or give us a deeper understanding of scripture with their patterns. For example, the number 7 seems to symbolize something being “completed or finished” as well as divine perfection. The first use of seven in the Bible was found in Genesis 1 when God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the seventh and set it aside as the Sabbath, the holy day of rest. God also used seven as a time period for His mandates.…
Gothic architecture allowed churches to be bigger and taller than ever before, they used Flying Buttresses to take the weight of the walls and redirected that weight into the ground. The pointed arch also helped take some of the weight and allowed the columns inside the church to become smaller because, as they didn't have to hold all the weight of the arch. All this made it possible to have much larger windows, these were made into beautiful works of stained glass, which display scenes and messages that were important from the bible. This was necessary firstly because a fair amount of people in that time were illiterate and secondly with the printing press not being invented yet, copies of the bible had to be done by hand and that lead to not many people owning a bible. As a result the churches, who still wanted to spread the teaching of the bible, used artwork like paintings and sculptures in the churches to convey the messages.…
Considering the life and teachings of Jesus, there are many incredible truths and life lessons we can find that personally affect us, even 2000 years after his life. Jesus fulfilled many roles while he was on earth. He was an incredible teacher, and challenged the high religious officials of the time. His revolutionary teaching conflicted with the Jewish mindset of what a savior was. Most importantly, Jesus fulfilled the role of savior of all people.…

Biblical Leadership: The Function Practically (biblically) what do elders do? The New Testament has commands and examples given for the function of elders in the local body. Elders in the New Testament church help settle disputes amongst the flock (Acts 15:1-2). Elders are decision makers and they make decisions concerning the spiritual well-being of the congregation.…
A clear, concise, and well-communicated statement summarizing the foundations of Christianity, The Sermon on the Mount is an incomprehensibly impactful and irrefutably controversial work of literature. Divisive to some and a critical cornerstone to others, this passage from the Biblical Gospel of Matthew contains a collection of metaphorical imagery and expressions in addition to promises of heavenly rewards and warnings of perpetual punishment in the afterlife to those who accept or disavow its teachings respectively. The sermon is delivered from the central figure in the Christian faith, Jesus Christ. A suitable description concerning The Sermon on the Mount is “undiluted.”…
In our Gospel reading today, the disciples have been spending time together traveling with Jesus and they have had some amazing experiences. They watched Jesus calm the sea. They saw him drive out demons and heal sick people. They even helped Jesus feed 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. I am thinking the disciples must have believed they were going to be the next upcoming group of leaders!…

The “Sermon on the Mount” is recorded in Matthew 5-7. It is a collection of a number of Jesus’ teachings. In class, we talked about how Jesus was giving the disciples a new law. The Sermon on the Mount is the first times we hear of Jesus’ giving a sermon, according to the gospel of Matthew. The Sermon is so rich in things we need to do, think, and say, but I’m going to focus on the attributes that Christians need to display in order to have blessedness, how to pray and what to pray for, and a warning of false prophets.…
