As someone who studied human services and the helping profession, I want to join a company where I can put my enthusiasm for mentoring others to good use. I love how Thumbtack thrives off of creativity, motivation, and the push to success because that is what I highly value in a workplace environment. The characteristics and the workplace culture that Thumbtack exhibits are a perfect match.

When the author writes “Chris Schenk, research director of Ontario federation of labour, says downsizing in the recession of the early 1990’s meant fewer people had to do more work” she is stating facts. The statistics Canada and the “U.S study” as mentioned in the previous question cannot be legitimized as fact, as they are not correctly referenced in order to prove the main idea of overwork in society today. However, author mentions the statistics Canada in 1999, therefore assuming that this article was written in 2001, the 1999 study would then be a current source of information…

It is really true that sometimes, as much as we try to build rapport with our clients, we are faced with a client we do not like. We may feel some bias toward them as a person, their behaviors or values or disagreement with their behavior and their choice. I have had a similar situation where a client did not like me as a person and resulted in name calling using racial slur which I thought it was inappropriate and offensive. After lodging several complains to my boss nothing actually came out, but I had no option than to leave my place of work. Key to Wal-Mart’s organizational culture is the understanding that its associates and the people Wal-Mart serves are its greatest assets, without which the organization could not succeed (Three Basic Beliefs, 2007). Organizational culture at Wal-Mart encompasses several key concepts, including sustainability, associate values and benefits, community giving, foundational and matching grants, scholarships, volunteerism, and personal development. Customers experience its effects in the cheerful greeting received when entering or exiting a store and in Wal-Mart’s liberal merchandise return policies, while members of surrounding communities benefit from its community outreach…
