Thud, the buildings tremble. Thud, people run in the streets running and panicking. Thud, tanks and soldiers open fire. Thud, a shadow crosses over Tokyo. A roar splits the night air. Standing 164Ft tall them Kiju opens its mouth again, this time spewing fire upon the burning city. For 64 years the Godzilla franchise has cornered the market on the Kiju thriller. Over the years the giant monster has smashed and thudded his way through 32 films. He’s survived 4 basic era and even two American incarnations. The king of the monsters has easily earned his name. Starting in 1954 Godzilla crashed into theaters, terrifying the Japanese public. The giant monster himself a walker out of the ocean and devastates Japan. Monster spewed atomic fire, crushed cars and caused general havoc until destroyed. The first movies started what is known as the Showa Era, named after the Japanese emperor the time. During this time king of the monsters would defend humanity form aliens. This movie would also star its own brand new time line in the series. Once again with the only “cannon” film being 1954 Godzilla. The extremely long named Godzilla X Megaguirus: G Extermination Strategy, would have humanity favorite monster going bug hunting. Continuing with the long naming conventions 2001’s Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack had 2 of Toho’s other famous monsters showing up for a battle royal. Mecha-Godzilla returns again on the 2next movies. The Mellennium era would end with Godzilla final wars which had Godzilla fighting every monster in the series history.
