In “Breaking Through Uncertainty--Welcome Adversity”, the author depicts his feelings of personal growth after his near death experience. Mccormick shows the readers, how after not being able to fix the problem with his first parachute he had to resort to his emergency parachute. He understood the “urgency of [his] situation” and used his courage and overcame his natural instincts to not cut the only thing keeping him alive. Despite the uncertainty of death he “deploy [his] reserve parachute”(paragraph ) thus saving his life. Whilst Sally demonstrates that taking risks can gain an individual self-confidence, friends and unknown personality trait. Maccormick’s story demonstrates a greater outcome of risk taking by gaining renewed confidence in one’s abilities, which eventually leads him to saving his own life.
