Through The Tunnel Critical Lens Essay

A book is a dream that you hold in you hands. Many people love books and read all the time. Many do not understand the real meaning of books. Three stories have the most meaning by far: "Through the Tunnel", "The Bridge", and "The Scarlet Ibis". The story, "Through the Tunnel", is about a boy named Jerry who is eleven years old. He decided one day he would leave his mother and go off on an adventure, to the rocky beach. While on the rocky beach, Jerry meets a group of big boys. Jerry tries to impress the foreign boys by attempting to swim through a tunnel. Jerry goes through the tough time while in the tunnel, but he finally finishes the tunnel. No one works harder than he. Through this experience, Jerry became a better, hardworking person. "The Scarlet Ibis", is a sad story of a child born with a serious medical condition who overcomes some of his challenges. After Doodle's brother taught him how to walk, even play, Doodle is soon lead to death by his well-meaning but self-absorbed brother. Doodle's brother is older than he. "The Bridge" tells the story of a seventeen year old name Kostya who made poor marks in school that prevented him from going to college. Instead, …show more content…
These elements include symbols, moments of insight, triggers, themes, even the rites of passage. The individual roles of these elements vary, but combined, all result in the same thing: a classic. Interwoven, these elements reveal a deeper meaning as well as purpose to a simple but significant story. These wonderful, important stories stood the test of time the make is back to our day. These three stories are still here for a reason, the make lives better. "Through the Tunnel", "The Bridge", and "The Scarlet Ibis" all share similar writing elements that each author uses to tell unique stories.
