He makes an impression of not endorsing the availability of around-the-clock news nowadays. He thinks that many local news channels “mix their own coverage with soft news and fluff [entertainment]” and this jeopardizes the future of evening news. This makes one question the author’s background. Was he involved in the media industry? Did new advancements in the media industry turned over his career? Moreover, this could be the reason why there was no background information found about his career and his life even after scrutinizing the web. The only reference found was from a textbook he wrote for media students which was published by Pearson in 2012. Since he wrote a textbook especially for media students in order to inform and teach them, it can be inferred that he must be an expert in his field.
