1. Which two or three of these standards and/or key elements do you think are most important to ensure quality early learning experiences for children?
Based on my experiences in the field and from my ECED 400 class the three standards that I think are the most important to ensure quality early learning experiences for children are:
Standard 1. Promoting child Development and learning.
Standard 2. Building family and Community Relationships.
Standard 3. Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support young Children and Families
2. What is your rationale for these choices?
Standard 1. Promoting child Development and learning. In order to provide children a developmentally appropriate environment we need to use our understanding of young children’s development, and learnings. So, that we are able to plan activities that meet their individual needs and interest. Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support young Children and Families. As early childhood professionals, it is significant that we conduct assessment through observation. It is important that we observe children in their natural environment because the children are behaving in a natural manner. To ensure quality early learning experiences for children we need to “Understand the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment” (Wiltz et al., 2013. p.9). Being knowledgeable of observation, documentation, and assessment will allow us to plan developmentally appropriate goals, and curriculum that will be based on each child’s individual needs and interest. Also it is important that we take the time to educate parents about why and how we assess young children. We need to take the time to involve the families in setting goals and sharing the information that we
