Source 1 is a cartoon drawn that depicts of the slogan of France during the French Revolution crossed out and suppressed by a seemingly “white” female who clearly disregards the principles and step stone of France. The finger being wagged by the female is towards someone wearing a Burkini, which is a religious attire worn by Islamic women. Symbolically, the author is showing this female in the middle because it is leading you to believe that she is a French citizen by the fact she is in the center of the french flag which makes up ⅓ of it with the white area. In source one we see that france is undermining their own values on nationalism and what they firmly believe, the message given off by the cartoonist is trying to show that by being a nation state and following similar values, you should follow what you believe, you either are a nation or not. This in comparison with the second source is similar in some manner because both resignation positivity towards nationalism and become a nation rather than partying and not being a nationalist. Source two strongly believes that Multiculturalism is what makes societies function the best, apposed to other ways. Lastly, the third source contrast majorly with the other two sources because Mr. Bernard opposes the idea of being a nationalist nation, however is shows some similarities with the first source because of the initial message given off the french person, of not allowing other religious attire and other peoples needs to come in conflict with the contending loyalties, but the messages that are there differ in many ways.
