Three Monotheistic Religions

I think I've learned many different things from the readings and the power points that differ from what I initially thought about each of the three monotheistic religions we talked about, and some that remain in line with what I believed or had heard about each of these three religions. I would like to first talk about christianity, I learned a lot about christianity in these last few weeks, things that I,ve never heard of even though I am a christian my self, I am a devoted roman catholic and I myself had a lot of misconceptions about my own religion, just imagine how it went with the other two of the monotheistic religions we talked about in class. For example I had no clue that in the begining of christianity christian had been persecuted, I had no idea I guess I had the common misconseption that most christians have that christianity emerged as apopular religion that grew fast and strong without any oposition. I also had no idea that the pope and the roman emperor of the west had a conflict as to which one was the head of the church, I've always kind of had this idea that the pope had all the power since pope peter which was the first pope. Other than these two misconceptions I had about christianity I think everything else that we went over in class is pretty much in line with …show more content…
First of all I think everything I thought about islam differed from what I learned in class about this religion. To be honest like most Americans I thought islam was just a religion of radical psychopaths that worshiped alah, and I think this has everything to do with the image the media portrays to the public about this religion. Last year In Connecticut I was taking an extra year experience studying in an American school, which I would eventually could get me ready for studying in a US college or university. Every time my Art teacher sees to me in class she would say that life over their and she shows sympathy by telling me are your family doing over their and I begun to realize most Americans are totally brain washed by the media, and the Media spread those bad sides of Islamic culture because so they could have more profit and listeners. As I would really suggest that Americans need to start asking more questions about the real side of Islam as a religion, and I have noticed that universities have began to teach introduction classes about Islam.…

Islam is one of the fastest growing religions behind Christianity and it is projected to surpass Christianity in the next few decades. There are many heated debates amongst countries with the Islamic State and the terrorists attack/threats to non-Muslim countries. There is a question that remains in most people’s minds why do you people follow this religion. At the same time there is something many people do not understand and that is simply that they do not know what Islam truly is. It is very easy to be fearful of a people group that is known for being terrorists, but if we were able to take the time and learn about what they truly stand for, maybe we would not be so fearful because we would be able to see that they are human just like us.…

During this class, which took longer than anticipated, because of unforeseen events, but overall, I enjoyed learning about those philosophers who questioned the norm and sought better understanding. Among those people early on in civilization, life must have been simple, because of a vague understanding of our natural world or any other supernatural questions. Today we can attribute many of our beliefs, customs, and traditions to these people who influenced religion and philosophy. Certainly, those like Plato’s, Plotinus, and Maimonides all contributed to many versions of religion now well established around the world, because they chose to follow a different path towards knowledge. Although, many have grown distant from any type of inter-reflection…

Worshipping the same God of Israel, Christians were the second monotheistic believers. The teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth were next to become revolutionary.…

I believe that the three religions should be grouped together as each seems to branch off from the previous religion. Judaism is the oldest of the three and provides a good foundation for the other two. Christianity came second as a branch of Judaism. There are talks of Jesus and Abraham in the Islam religion showing that it is also a branch off of Judaism, however it isn’t tied into Christianity as much. Each of the three religions are monotheistic, they each worship a single god, the same god so it seems.…
