These doctors are the best that the natives have, the Witch Doctors use plants and herbs to create unique medicines for the illnesses that occur. Tijana Radeska from Vintage News states, “93 percent of Tanzanians said they believe in witchcraft.” This quote helps prove how essential Witch Doctors are to the native peoples of Africa. Witch Doctors use their supernatural powers to help heal patients; along with their imminent knowledge of the environment. In the story No Witchcraft For Sale by Doris Lessing there are three essential themes to the story. The first message in No Witchcraft For Sale by Doris Lessing is love. The love Gideon has for Little Yellow Head is immense. He does anything for the little boy, he saves him when he is spat upon by the tree snake. On page 1329 Gideon states, “Little Yellow Head is the most good thing we have in our house.” This quote shows how great the love Gideon has for Teddy. There is incredible secrecy that goes down in this story. Gideon’s father was a really good Witch Doctor and he never tells his bosses. He also never tells them about the special plant he uses to cure the young Teddy. On page 1333 Lessons states, “It was the first time he had come salting the tail of a fabulous bush secret.” This just goes to show how secretive the culture of the natives was back then. In the end it is really a bad thing to keep secrets, but in this case it wasn’t so
