There are three major risks that Nordstrom faces. The first of these risks focuses on the type on industry Nordstrom is involved in. The industry of goods is limited to only a select group of individuals. Even though the book explains that Nordstrom has a strong following and that during the recent recession consumers still shopped at their stores, they are still limited on the number of people that could shop at their stores. The second risk that Nordstrom could face is based off their customer service. Nordstrom prides itself on their strong customer service and that could also be a flaw. One major mistake in this practice by Nordstrom and it could spell disaster. Even in the most perfect of companies minor mistakes are bound to happen but the major …show more content…
Upon reading the case on Nordstrom, with the descriptions the book provided, New York City was envisioned as a strong place for a Nordstrom business. Therefore, a strong competitor in New York City would be Macy’s department store. Macy’s in a department store that when I think of it, long-lasting, luxury, and a strong reputation comes to mind. Things that also come to mind when talking about Nordstrom therefore it is a clear Nordstrom competitor in the geographic area of New York City. Two more competitors that also come to mind are Walmart and Target which alone are similar companies to each other. They are competitors to Nordstrom for two reasons. The first reason being that they are share in the same model of business. They sell consumer goods to people though their prices are of a difference there is sure to be overlap between the three companies. The second risk falls back to one of the risks that Nordstrom faces. If Nordstrom falters in continually selling high-end products then they will get closer to selling the goods that Walmart and Target sell.
