Three Major Monotheistic Religion Essay

Christianity is one of the three major monotheistic religions. A monotheistic religion is one where there is only one god. The god of the Christian religion is Jesus. Jesus is the creator of the world as shown in John 1:1-4. Another view of Jesus is as the judge and punisher of human. kind. The judgement will occur during the apocalypse, also known as the second coming. The apocalypse is the day that Jesus will return to earth to judge the evil people and reward those who have been faithful. This is shown in Matthew 25 in the sheep and goat story. In the story, the sheep were placed on the right and the goat on the left. The sheep and goat are meant to represent people being judged during final judgement. The addition of another god like Jesus wouldn’t be a big change in Buddhism because it just the addition of another god. On the other hand, the addition of other gods in Christianity wouldn’t work because Christianity only has one god known as Jesus. Buddhism couldn’t work in Christianity because Buddhist don’t pray to their gods, while Christians pray to Jesus. In a way, Buddhism is an atheist religion because they don’t pray to their Buddha. Christianity and Buddhism both believe in salvation, even though their concept of salvation isn’t the same. Buddhism version of salvation is reaching Nirvana while Christianity version of salvation is resurrection. Christianity and Buddhism also share similar ethical guidelines like treating others the way we want to be treated. A difference in the two religions is that Christianity focus on prayer while Buddhism focus on meditation. A similar concept in both religions is to help the poor. A difference between the two religions is how the world was created and if it is even mentioned. Buddhism don’t concern themselves with the creation of the world, while Christianity tells how God created the world in seven days from
