The Inuit hunted animals that both lived on land and in the sea. They hunted seals, caribou, walrus, polar bears and beluga whales. The tools that they used to hunt were bow and arrow, harpoon heads, knives, ulu and stone knives. These tools are different than the tools that the Iroquois used. The Inuit are known for their very exquisite art. They make very intricate carvings made out of stone. They mainly carved sea spirits. The Sioux hunted and gathered animals that live on land. They hunted buffalo, rabbits, deer, moose, gophers, elk, prairie chickens, wolves, coyotes and lynx. The also gathered Indian turnip and berries. The Sioux used the same tools as the Inuit when hunting. They also used tomahawks, pipe tomahawks and coup sticks. The Sioux also made some very exquisite artwork. They are famous for their quillwork. Quillwork is the oldest form of embroidery. Now let’s move on to the final tribe, the Iroquois. The third and last tribe I will be talking about is the Iroquois. The Iroquois fish and grow crops. They caught fish, hunted deer and other woodland animals. They grew corn, beans and squash as their main crops. (the three sisters) The tools that they used to hunt with were arrowheads, stone axes and knives.
