IMRO are an organisation set up to copyright the music of their members. IMRO’s role is to promote their member’s music and look after the royalties involved in the music industry.
Some examples of who they represent are music publishers, composers and songwriters.
Three functions of IMRO:
• IMRO copyright’s the music of their members, which usually consists of a music performance. IMRO want to protect the work of their members both nationally and internationally. The money earned through copyright is then used to pay the member royalties.

MCPSI (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society Ireland Limited) are an organisation that protects the rights of their members’ physical work. MCPSI collects royalties of physical copies such as C.D’s, D.V.D’s, Vinyl’s, etc. They also look after music in film.

• MCPSI collects royalties for their members work when it is a physical copy, such as a C.D or D.V.D.
• MCPSI are responsible for licensing their member’s work if it is used in any form of media such as film, computer games, T.V, radio, etc.
• MCPSI work to help copyright their member’s work in Ireland and other countries. MCPSI also licence their member’s work if it going to be used outside of the E.U.
