The main three conflicting views/paradigms are vitalism, sanctity of life and quality of life. Vitalism argues that human life is an absolute value and that it should be reserved regardless. Sanctity of life is founded on religious views and it argues that a person must never intentionally end their own life. While the quality of life, assesses the worth of the life. The ethical dilemma that I will present is in accordance to Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association code of Ethics. The ethical dilemma indicated is: ‘’a student told her counsellor that she is having suicidal tendencies and has given up on life entirely. Moreover, she expressed that she didn’t want her family and friends to a part of the equation.”
