I believe that there are three components that go into having a successful learning environment. The ideal learning environment for myself would be a place where I could be taught to accept failure, feel safe, and be happy. These few things may seem like they don 't have much to do with education. Though in reality, without these three components school can be a very scary and unwelcoming place. That is the polar opposite of what I believe school should be like. I think in order for children to take school seriously, it has to feel enjoyable in some way shape or form. School takes up a majority of people 's lives. You are usually there five out of the seven days of the week, for six hours or more. Why should school be anything but enjoyable?

Creating a safe learning environment is also incredibly crucial. Being able to feel safe and comfortable in school is unfortunately something a lot of children do not have. After listening to the podcasts on This American Life’s “Harper High School”, I realized just how important safety in school really is. The students that attended Harper High School were traumatized by the events that had taken place at and around their school. They were terrified of going to school. Many students stopped going to school, or had transferred to another school out of pure fear. How can you possibly learn in an environment that you do not feel safe in? In my ideal learning environment, everyone would feel secure about coming to school. There would be no worries about bullying or safety. Many times I have witnessed and also experienced myself, students being too nervous to participate in class with the reason being that they are afraid of getting bullied by other students. Their fear is taking away from their education in a way, and that is not acceptable. A teacher should take the time to create a way to incorporate the severeness of bullying and how it really effects people. In The Children Full of Life documentary, the teacher felt very strongly on the topic of bullying. When an indecent occurred of one child bullying the other, he spent several days trying to resolve the problem. This worked wonders in teaching the children that bullying is never
