In these two short stories “ Some of Us Had Been Threatening Our Friend Colby” and “ The Feeling of Power” are represented for the satire as in the writing of the authors for they both criticise the common unacceptable habits from human. In “ Some of Us Had Been Threatening Our Friend Colby”, it’s about a group of friend is making a plan, and list of to do things for their friend funeral for they are going to hang him, for he “ had gone too far”. It’s a little frustrated when we as the readers, can see the narrative’s explanation about why they have the right to hang Colby, “ I said that although hanging Colby was almost certainly against the law, we had a perfect moral right to do so because he was our friend, belonged to us in various important senses, and he had after all gone too far.” …show more content…
The tone in this short story is calm actually with a little creepy and silly. Barthelme is also focus of very small details in his description of their plan in the story. The meaning of this story is actually criticising the lifestyle of people in the world right now for murdering people and abortion now are more common than many years ago, for they are not appreciated other human’s life. For the “ The Feeling of Power” by Asimov, it’s about the government finds out about a guy named Myron Aub, and how amazing he is by calculating on paper instead of using a computer or calculator. We can notice right away the ironic tone of the story after reading a few lines and shows clearly the satire of it. It’s a little hilarious by reading and we can image the faces of all the commanders in the Pentagon of how amazed they are as watching Aub calculating on the paper. For the author's choice of concerns, the characters are the group of people with the highest position in the military system and a normal guy named Myron
