In The Hobbit Thorin is the "leader" of the dwarves, he planned to take on the adventure to get the treasure back in Chapter 2. Thorin is a very brave, stubborn, proud, and greedy for riches character in the novel. But, Thorin was not much of a heroic leader and his actions in the novel don't make deserving of his death. Thorin inheritance and approach originally makes Thorin seem like a relatively heroic individual. Though, the dwarf’s ranking in reliance to him drops as Bilbo’s rises.
