Thomas Robin's Case

My article talks about a case that is currently going on right now. The case deals with an online website called Spokeo and a man named Thomas Robins. In the article it states that Spokeo.com made a fake online profile about Thomas Robins with false information about him. Justice Stephen G. Breyer Explained that the profile had a picture of the wrong person, it said that he was in his 50’s, that he is married, is employed in a professional or technical field, has a graduate degree, and that his health is very strong and also that he is in the top 10% when it comes to wealth. The kicker is that everything in that profile is completely false. They all agreed that Robins has to have more proof in order to sue the company. They all referenced that constitution in that it states that Robins needs to prove that what the company did with the whole fake online profile caused “injury in fact” and not to speculate that it can be hurtful. The case can be considered important not just to ourselves but to other giant technology companies like Facebook and Twitter that worry about lawsuits when it comes to fake profiles. Thomas Robins is planning on filling a lawsuit against the company if they court finds the eligible for one. On Monday the divide between that liberal and conservative judges became apparent yet again when the conservative judges worry about giant tech companies spending money on useless expenses defending themselves. The liberals argue that the court is taking away justice from the consumers. Justice Elena Kagan spoke out against the company saying that they pretty much just created a new person online. She gave her point of view saying that if that was her that they did that to then she would have felt
