I will first tell you about Thomas Paine’s childhood and family. His parents were not educated. Thomas Paine was not educated either, but he could read, write, and do some arithmetic. He was an only child. He did have a sister, but she died when she was a baby. He married a women named Mary Lambert in 1759, but she died during childbirth. He married again, but separated in 1774, just before he arrived in Philadelphia.
