Thomas Jefferson: Advocate for Liberty In the past, racial discrimination and injustice took grasp over the nation. During this time, no one would stand up for those who were discriminated against due to the intimidation of the government, who urged such cruelty. Eventually a liberator came along known by the name of Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was an honored President who advocated citizen’s liberty in various ways, especially through the Declaration of Independence. He preserved citizens “Natural Rights” and argued on their behalves. Thomas Jefferson was determined to get his point across one way or another, thus marking the birth of his early career. Young Jefferson became fascinated by the idea of becoming a lawyer. But, during the time, there weren’t any schools or universities available. Instead of school, he studied in the office of a professional lawyer. It took him a little more than 5 years of preparation to obtain every bit of information available (Sheean 20). He became book smart, but still he lacked an important quality that a lawyer needed, he still hadn’t learned to project his voice.
