Jeffersons political life had begun after the French-indian war had ended. The war had left Great Britain in great financial debt this caused them to tax the colonists a lot more than the colonists had liked. The point of which the colonists were fed up with the taxes was when the British made the stamp act which put a tax on all printed goods, this same tax created the slogan “No taxation without representation” which meant that if the colonists were to be taxed that they should be able to be represented in Parliament in Great Britain.
