In the fictional story of The Maze Runner, Thomas wakes up in a familiar place. However, Thomas had no memory of who he was, he did not even know who his parents were. All Thomas knew was his name and that he was in a dark box that was moving. When he reached the top, the roof of the structure flew open. He was in "The Glade" as the boys who were there called it. The Glade was surrounded by an endless maze. Thomas was different from the other boys in The Glade. He had more memories than the rest of the boys had. The person that was in it was a girl. This is the only girl, Teresa, that was ever sent to the glade and she delivered a horrible message to the rest of The Glade people. Teresa tells them that she is the last one that the Creators will ever send. Not to mention that she starts "The End" of the Glade. Thomas and many others go into the maze to find the hole that the Grievers, motorized spider-like creatures, disappear to. Once they find it, Teresa and Thomas jump into it to shut down all of the Grievers. Once they do everyone else follows into the hole. Only about half of them make it through the fight with the Grievers. Now it is time to meet the Creators. They all slide down a slide that was, "slick with an oily goo that smelled awful--like burnt plastic and overused machinery"(P. 350). Once they reached the end of the awful slide, there was a long corridor of glass windows with people in them, the Creators. A woman came through a glass door to talk to them, but before she had time to explain people came in with guns. These "rescuers" shot all of the creators and took all of the teens to their hideout. Thomas hoped that they were finally

In the book the Maze Runner by James Dashner demonstrates the importance of sacrifice, taking risks and bravery when it comes to surviving, he does this by creating a detailed setting. When Thomas first went into the maze he saw what grew in the depths of the other side, “Thomas pushed aside the the swelling panic and set himself to work… he found a thick growth of ivy covering most of the stone” (121) Thomas wasn’t sure about what lurked on the other side of the wall, he had only seen the environment within the glade, which was just a grass field and shrubbery. Thomas risked going into the maze, because he wanted to help the runners find a way out. The author shows that a change of scenery could be the death of you but Thomas knew that…

The character Thomas Builds-the-Fire in the book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven tells many different stories of the hardships each Indian on the reservation deals with, and of the how the people on the reservation can handle these hardships. The stories he uses in this book are mostly fictional, but they tell stories in a different way than how your mind actually puts it. He adds a little more magic in his stories to make them sound believable. It is through Thomas’ stories that make people actually think about what happens on and of the reservation. Each of the characters create a certain atmosphere through the movie and makes me like some of the characters even more. A movie critic on Cinemalogue reviewed the movie poorly explaining how predictable the movie was throughout each scene and mentions how Thomas was told shortly after arrival of the maze that he should never enter the maze and that nobody has survived a night in the maze with the creatures. The critic emphasizes that it is obvious what will happen next after the protagonist is told the rules and facts about the maze. I agree with their criticisms on predictability, easily predicting the movie throughout each intense scene. I agreed that the movie is predictable because in one scene, Thomas is given a item by a fellow Glader saying to give it to his parents when he gets out, then Thomas refuses to take it and says he is going to give it to them himself not Thomas, making me realize that the kid will be killed later on.…

As far back as I can remember, reading has always been a tremendous part of my life. Growing up, my mother introduced reading as one of the most important skills I could learn. Throughout my childhood, my entire family constantly incorporated reading into my daily schedule by helping me complete word searches, reading books, or rehearsing the ABC’s. Every night before bed, my mother and I would read a page out of a children’s bible book called Blessings Every Day as opposed to the classic Green Eggs and Ham. Reading has taught me how to exercise my imagination, how to effectively communicate with others, and relieves my stress.…

    The Maze Runner Analysis

A notable similarity in these two novels is that rebellion is a large factor, and both authors ease the idea into the minds of the protagonists over the course of the book by using seemingly rhetorical questions to pose to them, and therefore causing them to act on these. This is evident when Dashner poses the question, “why does the maze keep changing?” to Thomas, as he creates this question upon studying the map of the Glade. This in turn causes him to step outside of the norms of conformity and rebel against the rules by going outside into the maze after the curfew, similar to the thoughts Winston undergoes regarding stepping out and breaking curfew. The authors begin creating these rebellious questions for the protagonists to think, hence toppling the contagious stone of thought, and changing the tone of the novel. Furthermore, Winston keeps a diary in which he writes all forms of rebellious thought, and this begins to lead him on a trajectory to rebellion against the Party and “Big Brother”, similar to the gradual rebellious mindset the Gladers’ begin to adopt.…
